I’m not a gamer, so here’s what Microsoft has to say about Crackdown 3:Ĭrackdown 3 is all about over-the-top fun, tons of explosions, and punching the baddies right in the face.

Microsoft obviously did this before with major titles like Forza Horizon 4 in the past, so it’s nothing new at all, but it’s still very crazy to see a major title being available for free through a subscription service like Xbox Game Pass.

And that’s pretty crazy to think about, to be honest. And that also means Microsoft is bringing it to Xbox Game Pass - if you are subscribed to Xbox Game Pass, you can start playing Crackdown 3 right away without having to buy the game. The much-awaited title today launched on the Xbox One and Windows 10.Ĭrackdown 3 is part of Microsoft’s Xbox Play Anywhere program, meaning you can play it across your Windows 10 machine as well as your Xbox One. There are different considerations when you're making content for a subscription or for premium purchase, and I'm not so sure that this game will be seen as the failure the review scores would indicate.Crackdown 3 is finally launching today after being delayed last year. It's not a great game to drive a $60 purchase, but it's an excellent pack-in for a service like this, the kind of thing you might just sort of turn on so that you can space out. It's not the most complicated game, but there's always been a supremely satisfying core to it that makes it curiously well-suited for Game Pass. Crackdown 3 isn't such a bad game to use that trial on, and it certainly doesn't seem like there's a whole lot more than 14 days of content in there, so consider that.Ĭrackdown 3 is, like its predecessors, an open -world shooter where you control a ludicrously overpowered superhero as you blow up a ton of things, jump around on top of buildings and shoot guns.

If you haven't used your free trial yet, that will drop the price all the way down to free, but only for 14 days.
